A Hmong and Khmu village 1 hour away from Luang Prabang by car or tuk-tuk. This village has an attractive setting and marks the beginning of a 3 hour trek that finishes at the Kuang Si waterfall. Local guides are available to lead you to the falls (note they speak only Lao). You can also begin a 5 hour trek to the Kuang Si Waterfall from Ban Nong Heo, which has a spectacular view over the valley and river. Ban Nong Heo is 20 minutes from town by tuk-tuk.
Visit Ban Long Lao! A local village where the customs and language are different to mainstream Laos. You can trek from the H'mong village and after two and a half hours through primary forest and jungle on the way visit the Hermit cave and refreshment at the spring before reaching the spectacular Kuang Si Waterfall. Afterwards you can return to Luang Prabang in time for sun setting over the Mekong.
