Tham Xang (Elephant Cave)
Closest of the caves located near the provincial capital pf Tham Xang.
Located at the northeastern part of Thakeek.
Doted as one of the most important Buddhist shrine.
What can you find there?
This cave has an elephant head like structure at one site which turned the life of villagers around into better miraculously.
Visit this site during the Lao New Year in April and see tourists and locals sprinkling water on the elephant head structure.
Check the view of the plains to the Mekong River after a steep flight of stairs in the cave.
Take the path leading to stunning and picturesque scenery around overlooking the mountains!
The Buddhist items like Buddha images, decoration and a box with Buddhist literature are all on display inside for you to see.
How to get to the Tham Xang (Elephant Cave)?
Close to Water Cave, Vang Vieng, Laos.
It is located 9km northeast of Thakhaek, and can be reached by tuk-tuk.
