Paro Arrival and Transfer to Thimphu
Fly to Pro International Airport and spend 1 hour transferring to Thimphu, the capital of Bhutan with your tour guide. Visit Kuensel Phodrang, National Memorial Chorten, Takin Preserve and a local craft bazaar after checking in your hotel.
Celebrate Tshechu Festival in Tashichho Dzong
The Thimphu Tshechu Festival falls on the Oct 5th to 7th in 2022. Late September is one of the best months to travel to Bhutan, so the Thimphu Tshechu Festival attracts more tourists than other places. You will visit the Tashichho Dzong, where there are the most celebrating activities, such as the mask dance and religious ceremonies.
Continue Tshechu Festival Celebration
The celebration continues in Tachichho Dzong. Normally, the local people will unfold a huge Thangka during the celebration. The ceremony of unfolding the Thangka is the happiest moment during the festival. There is no fixed time for the ceremony. If you are lucky enough, you can see it.
There are other options today. The Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the oldest monasteries in Thimphu, is also worth a visit during the festival.
Transfer to Punakha for Sightseeing
Today, you will explore Punakha, the former capital of Bhutan. You will stop at the Dochu La Pass for a grand view of the Himalaya Range on your way to Punakha.
Punakha was the capital of Bhutan until 1955. Lots of ancient sites are located in Punakha. You will learn about its history, arts and religions in Chimi Lhakhang and Punakha Dzong.
Paro History and Culture Exploration
Transfer to Paro and take a sightseeing tour to Paro Dzong, a fine example of Bhutanese historic architecture, and National Museum of Bhutan, where collects intriguing local artifacts with insightful instruction.
Hike to Taktsang (Tiger Nest) Monastery
The Taktsang Monastery is a must-visit attraction for most tourists. Around 2.5 hours’ hiking are needed to reach Taktsang Monastery, the most famous religious relic in Bhutan. It is possible to take a rest at the view terrace, which is located on the half point of the hiking route.
